Remodeling

When we bought our house five years ago, there was a huge amount that needed to be done. Seriously. An absurd, daunting amount. We really had no idea what we were getting ourselves in to. But now, after tons of help from family and friends, and some frantic projects in the last few weeks, it is finally really close to what we wanted. It's a little (a lot sad) to have to leave it now that it is finally coming together, but hopefully the renters will like it (and take care of it. Is it possible? I've heard it isn't).

Anyway, here's a glimpse in to the before and after of our house. The before shots are from when the little old lady we bought it from was still living here. I am laughing so hard at the before shots. What were we thinking??? I honestly have no idea how we saw any potential whatsoever through the endless knick-knacks, clutter, and terrible wood paneling. Wow. Just...wow. I can't believe I had forgotten how bad it was.

Nursery:

Bathroom:

Kitchen:

Living Room: (no before shots of this, but I'm sure you can picture it. Lots of rose wallpaper. I wasn't previously aware of this fact, but apparently, one can never have enough pink floral wallpaper).

Shauna, I am MAJORLY impressed! What a transformation! I'm sure the renters will have no idea of your home's former hideousness. Perhaps you should frame up a few of those "before" shots and hang them just so the renters can really appreciate all your hard work (and maybe just maybe be that much kinder to your house!)

We roll out of here on June 3rd.

How about you?

Shauna, It looks so good. You really did some big projects! I love your kitchen. Those are beautiful cabinets. I'm sure sometimes renters are considerate. We bought a fixer and are still working on it. A new kitchen is definitely in the saving plan! We have nice burgendy tile... Good luck with the move. Do you have a date yet?

Whoa and wow! I never knew the before was so "before". I knew I loved your house, I just didn't know how much. You guys are awesome.

Seriously amazing. It is so beautiful. I am sad for you that you have to leave it, but it is for a good cause, right? Don't forget to find Melinda's Way for me and take a pic! ha ha

My biggest pet peeve of moving is that we always finish our "to do list" just in time to move out. We finished the basements in both of our previous houses, just to move out. We never even used the basement in our last house. Your house looks beautiful. Good luck with the renters!

Great job on the house! Kudos for being able to get so much accomplished. It is always ironic that we are constantly improving the house for someone else's enjoyment, but I guess that is just the way it works, and hopefully you can be back to enjoy it someday!

Shauna- your house looks amazing! I definitely add to the sentiments about having to leave it though. It's a sad thing. Good luck with the move!

That. . is. . .incredible! I really can't believe any of those rooms are the same! I hope it's still beautiful when you come back to it. When are you coming back, by the way?
